Digital Editor, Farm Flavor Media

Farm Flavor Media is an agribusiness content company focusing on connecting the world, largely an audience generations removed from farming, with the importance of agriculture through interesting, engaging stories about the food we eat, the farm products we use and the farmers who make it all possible.

Our content and marketing team is hiring a Digital Editor to help us take our content to the next level through writing, editing and marketing. We’re looking for someone to create engaging original stories, edit and enhance existing articles, and market this content through social media and other digital outreach efforts.

Responsibilities:

Content

  • Author 2-3 original posts per week on FarmFlavor.com

  • Populate print content to the website, editing and optimizing for a digital audience

  • Edit, enhance, repurpose and curate existing content

  • Serve as copy editor for Farm Flavor Media print and digital projects

  • Write stories for FFM’s state ag guides and rural lifestyle publications

  • Develop a digital content strategy and editorial calendar through collaboration with senior editors

  • Edit existing content to maintain tone and brand consistency

  • Contribute to the evolution of the Farm Flavor voice and tone

    Marketing

  • Develop marketing strategy for digital content, especially original posts

  • Implement email campaigns with email marketing tools

  • Collaborate on social media efforts

  • Reach out to story subjects, relevant outlets when content publishes

  • Be willing to put up with a lot of agriculture puns (we can be quite, um, corny)

Qualifications:

  • College degree in communications, journalism, English, PR, marketing or related field

  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience

  • Experience writing for an online audience

  • Strong copy editing and proofreading skills (primarily AP Style)

  • Web content management experience (WordPress or similar)

  • Working knowledge of digital marketing, such as social media and email campaign management

  • Basic understanding of Google Analytics, Facebook Insights and other metrics

  • Superb organization and attention to detail

  • Working knowledge of agriculture industry a plus
